Another charming thing to ponder over! My right eye is wonky with weird floaters and a moving gloopy spot; I have a detached aqueous something or other (décollement du corps aqueux) , randomly happened last October two days after my daughter’s wedding! Hope you’re ok, I’m in a flare… but should hear from my gastroenterologist today or tomorrow. And a friend recommended a gastroenterologist in Barcelona who is apparently amazing. Will contact today. Fun fun fun!!

Thank you Cesca. I guess with systemic inflammation the whole body can get affected in some form, it's just weird how it seems to focus on certain areas 😌. Oh I do hope the Drs get back to you soon and they can help in some way. Flare ups are so tough. I feel one coming on too this week, I think it's the heat. Sending you lots of love x

A good friend was having eye trouble in her 30s, and she was diagnosed with uveitis and immediately referred to a rheumatologist (or maybe a GI doc), where it was discovered that she also had ulcerative colitis (which her father also had when he was alive). So strange, but she had competent professionals guiding her from the get go. She switched to an anti-inflammatory diet and essentially eliminated both problems over time.

Wow that's so impressive. I'm so glad they took it seriously and she got seen to so quickly. It's nice to hear a success story 😃

A great article and resource of information🙏

I didn’t know there was a link between autoimmune conditions and eye disorders. But I do know at the point of disability by chronic illness I looked dead behind the eyes (and of comorbidity) so it doesn’t surprise me too much at the same time.

This is such valuable information for those with these symptoms or AS to be aware of. Thanks for sharing,

hi Ams - its a good job you are carrying out your research and finding out more about A.S. - i believe opticians can see such a lot through your eyes and now, with the updated technology, can find out even more than 5 years ago.

I just happened to be reading about A.S. and which famous personalities suffer from it and there was one called Dan Reynolds under https://creakyjoints.org/about-arthritis/axial-spondyloarthritis/axspa-patient-perspectives/dan-reynolds-ankylosing-spondylitis-diagnosis/

I am certainly hoping that if scientists can anaylse so much now through their processes and can change just one blood cell that they can do the same with A.S. - i there a chemical lab working on this at the moment do you know

also this Dan Reynolds talked about his very simple diet so it would be useful to hear what you eat now so we can all know and if you have any tips on what types of food to eat and any interesting recipes?

Going back to your article on 'body shaming' - which is totally understanding, do you ever look at people in the street and subconsciously think - as a matter of interest, something like "they're too tall" OR "They're too short" etc as its interesting where we, ourselves, have thoughts on what people look like - just something i find curious. What do you think of the ladies now who now have to have 'bigger lips' ? to fit in with the crowd - do you think they have more problems as to what extent they will go to be supposedly 'perfect' ?

I hope you can stay cool in this hot weather. Some people say that when a storm is about to come and the pressure changes, it can give them headaches, what about you?

They say a cold hot water bottle on your skin can cool you down or would you rather be inbetween.

You may be interested to know that the grandmother of your dear mother left a wish that when she passed away - probably in the 1970's - they should use her corneas for someone else's eyes ! so you come from some 'good' genes as well as some not so good 'genes'- She also used to write a diary every day and when she was 74 years old and was told she had cancer of the colon I believe, she wrote about herself and what was happening to her and her body every day - so she became 'more friendly' with her body every day .......

I do plan to do a gut/food based article soon. There is so much to write about in that regard. There seems to be many different types of diet. One that seems to crop up a lot is starch free diet which is interesting 🤔
